Native to Madagascar and also called Cinnamomum camphora and cineole, it grows wild in tropical rain forests and can reach 15 meters. Its leaves are oval, alternate, leathery and broad, persistent and shiny on the upper side, recalling its belonging to the Lauraceae family. Flowering takes place from November to January and provides a very characteristic berry.
